Please look at the “Reminiscences” page to see an article written by our first Chairman, Rotarian George Mercer.   George visited hospitals in Uganda and Tanzania on two occasions.  As well as being Chairman, George was Co-ordinator, making all the arrangements for the visits of our volunteers.  George was Chairman from the start of the Rotary Doctor Bank, until 2001.

Dr Tim Wiggin has traveled to Uganda to spend 6 months at Buluba Hospital.  The hospital was originally for the treatment of leprosy sufferers, but with the reduction in the number of leprosy cases, it is now a general hopsital.

Dr Wiggin has previously worked in Nkokonjeru Hospital in Uganda and also at Lilongwe Hospital in Malawi, as a volunteer with the Rotary Doctor Bank.

Latest News:  On a sad note we have to report the death of Dr Paul Smith, one of the Rotary Doctor Bank’s Medical Advisers.  

Congratulations to Past District Governor David Curtis, a member of the Rotary Doctor Bank Management Committee, who was awarded the BEM in the New Years Honours.   David was District Governor of District 1150 in 2013-14.  David is a former world champion gymnast.
