The refurbishment of the maternity unit and operating theatre at Freda Carr Hospital in Ngora, near the border between Uganda and Kenya is complete. The opening ceremony took place last weekend and the units started admitting paients on Monday 2nd September. Photographs of the refurbishment and of the openeing ceremony will appear soon.
The refurbishment was funded with a Global Grant from the Rotary Foundation and everything was planned by Rotarian Jim McWhirter, a member of the Rotary Club of Reading Matins. This is the second major refurbishment that Jim has undertaken. In 2014, Jim carried out a refurbishment at Kamuli Hospital.
On Saturday 7th September, Radiographers Renate Hoare and Cassie Groves are travelling to Buluba Hospital for 2 weeks. This is Renate’s second visit to Buluba Hospital, Cassie is volunteering for the first time. Best wishes to both.
